Friday:

Hospitality Center

The Center, located in the Windsor rooms on the main floor of the Crowne Plaza Hotel will be open most hours of Friday and Saturday for your convenience.  Fuchs’ Friends will have members in this area and you are invited to  drop in to speak with them, for literature and DVDs, and talk with others who have undergone vision deterioration, corneal surgery and recovery of vision.  You will be able to ask them questions and find out how their lives and livelihoods were recovered.  These volunteers have “been there and done that.”

Workshops

There will be a general volunteer workshop for a limited number of attendees in the Hospitality Center on Friday at a time to be announced.

Attending Group Leaders will be available to discuss the operation of our Local Groups

Friday evening Reception 7:00 PM till 10:00 PM

We meet the Speakers and their guests, Fuchs’ Friends, The Corneal Dystrophy Foundation Board of Directors, people who have had cornea transplants and others with corneal dystrophy at the Friday evening reception at the Portland Crowne Plaza Hotel Bellmont Ballroom. The evening will provide a chance for conference attendees to mingle with each other and the presenters.  There will be hors d'oeuvres, both hot & cold, tea, coffee and soft drinks.

Among those planning on attending the Reception are Mark A. Terry, MD, Director of Cornea Services at Devers Eye Institute, Portland, OR; Albert O. Edwards, MD, University of Oregon at Eugene, Or.; Albert S. Jun, MD; and representatives of The Oregon Lions’ Eye Bank.

Saturday Sessions 7:45 AM till approximately 3:00 PM

After a complimentary, light continental breakfast and late registration in the Bellmont A Room between 7:30 AM and 8:45 AM, we will move to the Bellmont B&C and began the Saturday program at 9 AM, taking mid-morning and luncheon breaks.

We plan to have a speakers’ panel on Saturday afternoon immediately after luncheon that will last approximately one and one half hours.

Saturday Dinner 6:30 PM till 9:30 PM

Saturday evening we will join the speakers and others for an optional celebratory dinner in the Bellmont A Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza  We will have the opportunity to mingle with new patients, attendees from the US, Canada and others of the online support Fuchs’ Friends’ Group and the Cornea Transplant Group.

Dinner Menu:

  • Salad Course
  • Choice of:
    • Oven Roasted Chicken w/garlic & herb sauce, served with rice & seasonal vegetables or
    • Oven Roasted Salmon topped with citrus glaze, and served with steamed rice & seasonal vegetables.
  • Choice of complimentary glass of Red or White wine
  • Freshly Brewed Coffee, Selected Teas, Decaffeinated Coffee or Iced tea
  • Desert.

Both Entrees are Gluten Free

The Crowne Plaza Hotel provides Free Shuttle Service between Portland International Airport and the Hotel.

Free shuttle service is also available within a radius of 5 miles from the hotel if the shuttle is not committed to an airport run.
